Baby Arlo’s godparents gifted his parents a photo session with me, and how flattered was I? The idea of gifting someone a session is so thoughtful and generous, especially since hiring a professional photographer is an investment that can get pushed further and further down our wish list. It’s actually inspiring me to potentially add a Baby Registry link to my website, so friends and family can help parents-to-be preserve memories of their babies’ early lives.

Well, Arlo’s mom and dad were visiting all the long way from London and requested baby portraits of their 7 month old, which was perfect for me. I really love photographing this age group, since at this age they can sit up and be their super cute selves for photos. Like my other studio style sessions, this was done in-home. I went to the family’s house with my equipment and set up next to one of their upstairs windows. Such beautiful lighting! Soft and diffuse, it accented the softness of this darling baby boy.

This first series of portraits are some of my favorites, ever. The neutral set up allows Arlo to be the star of the photos. The cream colored flokati rug with matching seamless paper as the backdrop is one of my most used combos, because it frames the subject so perfectly. And look at Arlo! His big, beautiful eyes make me go “awww” inside.

These next photos are special because of the outfit. While many moms may enjoy browsing through the current GAP catalog, dad is the one who bought this for Arlo. 🙂 We changed the backdrop and flooring to give the photos a clean look.

Newborn sessions always include family photos, and we were able to squeeze some in to this baby milestone session.
