Newborn Photo Sessions
in Sacramento, Davis, Elk Grove, California
There comes a moment when you realize how expansive and overflowing your love is. It comes with motherhood. It comes with becoming a parent knowing the whole universe has faded so you can focus on this tiny, beautiful face that is utterly dependent on you. This little baby that will eat, poop, sleep (or not sleep), that will grow into a wild-child toddler, then into a smart, clever child, and so on and so forth until your baby is an adult — but always and forever your baby.
What is the expression? The days are long, but the years are short.
You want to preserve these moments of baby sighs, of fleeting smiles, of lanugo-covered foreheads and fragile, sharp-nailed fingers. I want to photograph this for you, so you can re-visit these special, exhausting moments when the days are gone.
The time is quick. Let’s plan early.
Your baby’s newborn stage quickly grows into the infant stage. Newborn photos are best taken within the first two weeks of life, so please book well ahead. We don’t know when your baby will be born, of course, but I will keep an open schedule two weeks before and after your due date.
What about maternity portraits?
If you’d like to have your pregnancy photographed as well, I would be so honored to do that for you. Believe me, photographing mommas-to-be nourishes my artistic soul. I envision an ivory lace dress, a fresh flower crown, and the intimacy of your bedroom or the lush backdrop of a Sacramento River landscape. Or whatever is your style. I also have a small selection of dresses you can choose from.
As incentive for letting me capture your beauty, maternity photo shoots come at my mini session pricing when booked along with a newborn shoot. (Email me for more details).
First step to booking
All you need to do is email me. I can answer your questions over email or schedule a day to meet in person.
Once you are ready to book, I’ll send you an online contract, a questionnaire, and invoice for your $300 session reservation fee, which is applied to your total purchase.
Then, you’ll receive a newborn prep guide with all the details that go into making your baby’s first photo shoot a success.
If timing works out, I’d also like to drop by your home to check out your space and plan my set-up.
Your Baby’s Photo Session
After your baby is born, you’ll email me to let me know the exciting news. We’ll plan a morning day within the first two weeks of life. Since you’ll have the newborn prep guide, we’ll be all set for the session.
I bring my equipment to your home — that includes my bean bag, backdrop stand and seamless paper, rugs, wraps, bonnets and hats with me. It is quite a lot and it may look like I’m moving right in. I’ll set up either using window light or my studio light. We’ll have an amazing 2-3 hour session, photographing your baby, you and your new family.
