Planning Your Annual Family Photo Book

It’s easy to create an end-of-year photo book of your favorite family memories if you plan it in advance. I’ll show you my plan for having a completed and high quality memory book for my family’s keepsake collection.

1. Find a company that allows you to save galleries on your online account.

My choice is Artifact Uprising. I’ve been a customer of them for years now, and the quality of their products — from prints to calendars and photo accessories — never disappoints.

2. At the end of each month, select your favorite photos and upload them to your gallery.

On my iPhone I like to “heart” the photos I love, which makes it easy to find my favorites under Albums in the Photos app. You can also create a new album, label it “photo book” and add your favorites there. If your yearly photo book is only comprised of pictures from your phone, you can download the Artifact Uprising app and create a book from there. Conveniently, the app saves your progress as you create your album.

Personally, I transfer the photos to my desktop computer via Airdrop. This method is great if you also use a DSLR or GoPro, and that way you can include photos in your book that aren’t only from your phone. I spend some time at the end of each month uploading my favorite photos onto the Artifact Uprising website. Once you have an account with them, the website allows you to create online galleries where your photos are saved. This year I’m creating a 2022 gallery. You can continually add to to it and order your photo book when ready. It’s easy and convenient.

3. At the end of the year, order your photo book easily using the photos you’ve uploaded into your gallery.

Skip the disarray of searching through the hundreds (or, let’s be real, thousands) of photos on your phone and computer. You’ve done the work in advance and now ordering a photo book should be simple. And that’s it! The website can even auto arrange the photos for you. The best part is, there’s usually a promotion happening between the holidays and new year’s, so that’s extra incentive to have your photos ready to go. Yearly photo books are a beautiful way to keep memories close and tangible for you and your family.
