Today I had the incredible honor of having an image from my portfolio chosen for a custom edit by Sysommay Kaiphanliam of Skai Photography. I sent in my SOOC (straight out of the camera) RAW file and, a few hours later, saw Sysommay’s processing magic on her Facebook page.
It’s as though she shook a bit of her fairy dust on the image and, poof, there it is, her signature look.
This was a huge honor for me because Skai Photography is one of the photographers I look up to and am inspired by. Silly as it may sound, I remember the night I stumbled upon Sysommay’s work. I sat for several minutes on end, staring in awe at one image in particular. Then I scrolled through her website and read probably every single blog post I could find. Her talent is unbelievable. If I am ever in the Tri-Cities area, hands down, I am asking her to photograph me and my family.
The chosen image was photographed as part of an assignment for a processing class I took at CMUniversity. The instructor was photographer extraordinaire, actions developer and all around kind soul Sarah Cornish of My Four Hens Photography. I learned so much from Sarah and the other talented photographers in that class. Here are a few more shots from that session, including my black and white edit of above image.
