My fall photo season started off with this beautiful family.  Although shooting a family with three kids 5 and under might seem daunting to some, I was looking forward to it! 1) My own tribe is growing to be a family of 3 children, with my oldest being 5 when our baby girl is born; and 2) the family photo shoot at the Rachel Vanoven workshop was also a family of 5, and I got to practice posing as Rachel did. The session was an hour and a half of running around and cajoling the three kiddos all across Gibson Ranch. Here are some highlights.

Gibson Ranch is one of my favorite places to shoot and also one of the most frequented by Sacramento area photographers. It’s relatively safe for young families with its wide, sprawling fields, and for images there is a wide variety of visual interest. This red barn, for example, is pretty awesome to have as a backdrop. And while we were there the kids even got to greet a couple horses that were walking down a nearby path with their friendly owners. I was happy to get so many different poses with this well-dressed family. Aren’t these kids adorable?

By this time in the session the kids were pretty energetic, and I spent the next hour chasing them like a mad woman with my camera! Anything for the shot, right? I have to say, I’m pretty proud of what I got. 🙂

I adore photos of parents and their young ones. It was easy to see that the kids have the best time playing with their dad.

And of course, what mom doesn’t appreciate photos with her kids? This sweet boy and his mom looked so great on the ranch. This photo is one of my favorites.

Of course we had to sneak in some couple shots for mom and dad…

And end the evening on a happy note for all.
