Being on maternity leave may mean that I’m not shooting at the moment, but I’ve made myself a promise to catch up on blogging. There are so many images I love from my fall family photos that I’m anxious to display on my website. So before I begin to overshare photos of my newborn baby, I’ll blog about my lovely clients first. 🙂

This photo session was held in Niles Community Park in Fremont, California, and was many months in planning. This sweet mom and I had been emailing for awhile and once we decided on a fall date, the weather decided to be horrible and rain the entire morning. Luckily, we had a wait-and-see approach, and the sky cleared beautifully for our sunset session.

These mother-baby portraits have got to be some of my favorite images I’ve taken, ever. Beautiful mom, beautiful baby, and beautiful styling. Did I mention they’re beautiful?

As much direction with posing I offer during a session, it doesn’t always guarantee that one shot that makes your heart sing. But with the right lighting and posing, and a perfectly playful family, sometimes magic happens — this is the one that I absolutely love from this session.

Niles Community Park has a trail that we walked down to take posed and candid portraits.

Part of our email correspondence focused on what to wear. I really enjoy being a part of the styling process and was so happy with what this momma chose for her family. The colors and textures complemented the setting, with the bits of red and green.
