Fall is busy season for photographers. Families hurry to update their photos for yearly holiday cards, since babies become toddlers and toddlers become preschoolers; before you know it you have big kids who barely fit in your lap. Don’t forget that parents change too. 😉
So once your session is booked, what next? Deciding what to wear. It’s a looming task that has you thinking about color combinations, searching Pinterest and spending quality time in Old Navy’s fitting room and Target’s customer service as you consider each top, dress, and shoes for each family member.
Luckily for you and me, I’ve had well-dressed families in front of my camera and here’s one that makes for a most gorgeous example.
This family’s session was almost canceled due to rain, but I am so glad we moved forward with the session because the photos ended up being one of my favorite sessions ever. The overcast weather actually diffused the light beautifully and with some adjustments positioning them relative to the sun, we created a timeless and color-rich photo gallery.
Most of the clothes adorning the beautiful M family were from Zara. Since many retailers keep color consistency across their clothing each season, this helped with the shoot’s color scheme. Mom’s dress is the centerpiece, with coordinating pieces chosen for the twins and hubby.
The colors and textures of the wardrobe meld together so nicely. A photographer’s dream.
In the photo above you can see baby girl’s bloomers. Those were from Tutu du Monde. While they make wonderful heirloom pieces to keep forever, I know of a rental service which is perfect pulling girls’ couture pieces together for a photo session. (I will have to write another blog post detailing how that works.)
Because I loved this session so, here are more photos from the gallery.
