I love studio work. I love the timeless feel of a baby on a neutral background, snuggled in blankets, and that the baby is the one and only focal point, as though in a spotlight. But I have to agree with my husband, who says that much of my very best work has been outdoors. This rustic outdoor session was a perfect setting for me to create beautiful portraits, and I was lucky to have this adorable little toddler and her parents to photograph.
This was the first photo shoot I had after spraining my ankle at 7 months pregnant (I’m pretty clumsy in general, so being pregnant tipped the scale against me). So there I was hobbling across this beautiful winery, chasing after a very active and spunky 2-year-old. She had the cutest voice and impressed me with her speaking skills. Compared to my own toddler she sounded like a kindergartener. 😀
I also loved how her mom dressed their family — the earthy tones of their outfits were a perfect compliment to the grounds of the winery.
Did I mention this kid’s personality? Such curiosity.
She looks so much like her daddy. 🙂
And of course, some family shots of the trio.
Black and whites are always stunning in their own way.
Remnants of rain, hazy light, adorable child — this one is a favorite of mine. <3 She looks like an angel baby here, a cherub, with her hair rimmed by the backlighting. 🙂
And a few more highlights from the session.
And the last photos from the evening. <3 I am so glad I didn’t put my camera away prematurely, as these were taken as we headed back to the parking lot.
