I love when clients become friends, and that’s how I feel about this family. I took Andres’ mom’s maternity photos and his newborn photos last year. Where does the time go?! We recently photographed his 1 year cake smash, and it reminded me that I wanted to share his growth over the past year. That’s the biggest perk of being a baby’s first year photographer — you get to witness the amazing growth of these little ones.

…and as a fresh little babe

Here are a bunch I never shared from Andres’ 5 month session. The talented Stephanie Wilson of Mohawks and Pearls made this stellar stretchy pants.

Such a gorgeous momma. I enjoy photographing her because I always know we’ll get beautiful photos.

When we came up to Andres’ first birthday, it was blues and whites for his set up. His mom was so creative at crafting the bunting out of old jeans. I love how crisp and clean these photos look. It’s really cool to see how much Andres has grown since he was an itty bitty newborn. He has the same adorable features, now on a 1 year old’s face. 🙂

Since his session was held at his home, I snapped some quick lifestyle shots as he was getting ready. I am thinking about offering these type of in-home lifestyle sessions more often. The idea of looking back in twenty years on mementos of your home and what it looked like is appealing to me.

Then it was on to the fun — the smashing of cake, this exquisite blue ombre cake was going to get messy.

It looks like Andres enjoyed himself. 🙂

As I get more cake smash sessions under my belt, it’s fun for me to how babies react to their first bite of cake. I’d call it a sugary win for the majority of babies. 🙂
